The SM 2001
Conference Offers Exciting Events
and Opportunities
Ask the Experts
Meet one-on-one with industry experts in the areas of software
management and measurement technology during the conference's
"Ask the Experts" session. Pose your toughest questions,
address specific project needs, and gather details on the latest
research and cutting-edge metrics and management practices.
Birds-of-a-Feather
Sessions
Take part in birds-of-a-feather sessions on Thursday afternoon.
Gather with colleagues and industry leaders in a relaxed setting to
learn more about specific topics of interest in the areas of
software management and measurement. These informal, interactive
sessions are a great source of networking and information exchange
with your peers!
Special Panel
Discussion
How Can I Tell When My Project's in Trouble?
Many software projects fail. Many might not fail, though, if
we could only recognize the signs of trouble in time. This
60-minute, interactive panel session discusses real circumstances
where projects started to go south, how the panelists identified
project trouble, how they chose to intervene, and how they evaluated
the effectiveness of the intervention. Based on real-life
experiences of software project managers and audience participation,
learn how to identify clues that indicate projects are in trouble
and explore the effectiveness of interventions.
The Measurement & Management EXPO
Spend two exciting, information-packed days with the industry's
leading software management and measurement vendors. Meet suppliers
who specialize in measurement automation, project tracking and
estimation tools, practice assessment services, configuration
management, and more. Participate in technical presentations and
demonstrations held throughout the EXPO to help you find the tools
and services you need to support your software development efforts.
Bookstore to Host Book Signing
Several of the speakers at SM 2001 (as well as the co-located
Applications of Software Measurement Conference - ASM 2001) are also authors of popular
software management, engineering, and metrics books. The Guide to
the Best Software Engineering Books will host a book signing at
Wednesday evening’s reception. Pick up one of these informative
books and have it signed by the author. The Bookstore will be open
during EXPO hours for you to browse and purchase books.
Operation Link-Up
SM 2001 provides a dynamic networking program, giving you the
chance to "link-up" with other conference delegates who
share the same interests or are working on similar projects. Use the
Operation Link-Up Station to post and exchange ideas and questions
and arrange after-hour discussions. Or, you can use Link-Up's
color-coded topic tags to display your technical interests and
identify others with the same.
